Message from our Vicar
Haxey Parish Church (St. Nicholas’) is an active Anglican church at the heart of the parish of Haxey, which includes the villages of Haxey, Westwoodside, East Lound and Graizelound. It is known locally as the "Cathedral of the Isle" being the largest church building in the Isle of Axholme.
St Nicholas seeks to be an active forward-looking church with a variety of types of worship ranging from parish communion to evensong to more contemporary styles of worship. Sunday Bunch is our children's club and offers activities for children most Sunday mornings, and we often have All Age Worship. We run all age workshops with craft activities and food each Harvest, Christmas and Easter. In the summer holidays we run a week-long Holiday Club.
We have a youth group that meets weekly in the Youth Hub during term time for social events and 'chat nights'.
We very much welcome people from any church tradition and want them to feel 'at home' amongst us. While we feel comfortable with the familiar, we are open to change and what that can teach us. We also strive to be welcoming and sensitive to people with no church background who attend our wider services.
We warmly invite you to come and join us and find out more about our journey and the Christian way of life in today’s world. There is a lot going on – and there really is something for everyone. We welcome all, young and not so young, and at all stages of faith (including ‘not so sure’).
